  • Woman Sentenced To 20 Years Imprisonment For Sexually Assaulting Teen In Rajasthan

On the order by the juvenile justice court at Bundi, the police lodged a case against Lalibai Mogiya, 30, for kidnapping and sexually assaulting a teenager.

A POCSO court in Bundi sentenced a woman to 20 years imprisonment for kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 17-year-old boy in October 2023, officials said.

The court of Judge Salim Badra also imposed a fine of Rs 45,000 on the convict, they said.

On the order by the juvenile justice court at Bundi, the police lodged a case against Lalibai Mogiya (30) on November 7, 2023, for kidnapping and sexually assaulting a teenager, public prosecutor Bundi Mukesh Joshi said Sunday.

The victim’s mother had alleged that Mogiya lured her son, who was 16-year-old at that time, and took him to Jaipur where they stayed in a hotel room. She got the boy drunk and sexually assaulted him for six to seven days, Joshi said.

Based on the mother’s complaint, a case was registered under section 363 (kidnapping) of the Indian Penal Code, Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. Mogiya was arrested after initial investigation and later got out on bail, Joshi added.

After the hearing, the POCSO court found Mogiya guilty and sentenced her to 20 years imprisonment with a fine of Rs 45,000, the public prosecutor said.

  • 32-Year-Old Jaipur Resident Among 26 Killed In Pahalgam Terror Attack

Neeraj, who lived in Malviya Nagar, was on vacation in Kashmir with his wife when terrorists opened fire on tourists in Baisaran Valley, a popular spot in Pahalgam.

Neeraj Udhwani, a 33-year-old resident of Jaipur, was among the victims of the deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22. His body is expected to arrive in Jaipur later tonight.

Neeraj, who lived in Forest View Residency, Model Town (Malviya Nagar), was on vacation in Kashmir with his wife when terrorists opened fire on tourists in Baisaran Valley, a popular spot in Pahalgam.

While Neeraj lost his life in the attack, his wife, who was at the hotel at the time, survived unharmed. She informed the family of the tragedy.

Neeraj, who worked in the UAE, had come to India on vacation. He had recently attended a wedding in Shimla and then travelled to Kashmir with his wife. The couple had been married for two years, having tied the knot at Bhanwar Singh Palace in Pushkar.

Neeraj’s uncle, Dinesh Udhwani, said the family is in deep shock. His elder brother, Kishore Udhwani, an income tax inspector, had just arrived in Jaipur with his wife four days ago.

Neeraj’s mother, Jyoti Udhwani, is being consoled by relatives and neighbours. His father, Pradeep Udhwani, passed away a decade ago.

Tuesday’s attack left at least 26 people dead and more than 17 injured. Tourists from Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, as well as individuals from Nepal and the UAE, were among the victims. Two local residents were also killed.

This is the deadliest terror strike in Jammu and Kashmir since the Pulwama attack on February 14, 2019, in which 40 CRPF personnel were killed. The Pakistan-based terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed had claimed responsibility for that incident.

This is not the first time tourists from Jaipur have been targeted. On June 10, 2024, four people from the city, including a child, were killed in a terrorist attack in J&K. On May 18, 2024, a Jaipur couple — Farah Khan (35) and Tabrez Khan (38) — was shot at a resort in Pahalgam’s Yaner area.

  • Man Fights With Brother Over Dead Mother’s Silver Bangles, Lays Down On Pyre

The cremation was delayed by nearly two hours due to the son’s request to possess his mother’s silver jewellery.

A man in Jaipur delayed his mother’s cremation by around two hours over ownership of her silver bangles. The man, stubborn and determined to obtain his mother’s jewellery, lied down on the pyre. Villagers and relatives repeatedly tried to pacify him, but all in vain. He only got off the pyre after his demand was met. The video of the incident has gone viral since Thursday.

Bhuri Devi was the mother of seven children. While six sons lived together, Omprakash resided separately, outside the village. According to the villagers, there had been an ongoing property dispute between the six brothers and Omprakash for the last three to four years.

Ms Devi passed away on May 3, around noon. After performing rituals at home, and before taking Ms Devi’s body for cremation, her jewellery was removed and handed over to the elder son, Girdhari. This became the trigger for the chaos that ensued for two hours.

Together, the brothers, including Omprakash, shouldered their mother’s bier. However, once they reached the crematorium, Omprakash began demanding his mother’s silver jewellery.

The argument escalated when Omprakash unexpectedly lied down on the wooden logs, refusing to allow the cremation to proceed. While protesting, he even urged the family to burn him alongside his mother.

“I will die with my mother,” he said as he lay flat on the pyre, refusing to budge.

Meanwhile, his mother’s body, wrapped in a pink saree, lay on the ground, waiting for cremation.

Later in the video, the brothers are seen holding their mother’s body close to the pyre, waiting for Omprakash to move aside.

This standoff continued for nearly two hours until the jewellery was brought to the cremation ground and handed to Omprakash.

Ms Devi’s husband, Chitramal, died two years ago. Omprakash is the fifth among seven brothers.

No police case has been registered regarding this matter.
